Academic programs at the Learning Center are further supported by our newest project, the Vocational Training Center. In a labor market in which education and skills are more and more important, these young people are at a serious disadvantage.
The Vocational Center will offer young men and women with the opportunity to gain new, marketable skills in construction, electrical installation, and plumbing. They will work with adult mentors who are employed in the industry to build wall, lay floors, install drywall, paint/finish walls, plumb pipes/systems, install electrical systems, and frame a model “home” (smaller than a normal residence) in the first year of the program.
All Vocational Center activities will be coordinated and conducted in an environment where safety is paramount, oversight by adult role models is constant, and emphasis is placed on doing quality work, every time.
